The hospital Incident Response Guide that I reviewed was the evacuation, complete or partial facility. Some of the problems and/or challenges associated with this disaster response was the determination of the staff that will be mandated to report to work to assist with the evacuation, the determination of the actual time to evacuate a facility and how to know specifically when to evacuate partial or the entire facility. Determination during a major event when will communication start to facilities to start evacuating. Another problem and/or challenge is the determination of where residents will be re-located and if part of the facility will be evacuated would it be possible to move the residents to another part of the facility or will they

Duties are given to staff members in groups for example, Certified Nursing Assistance will be responsible for dressing and packing some of the resident’s personal belongings (clothing, incontinent supplies etc.). Licensed Nurses will print the necessary documents of the medical record, pack resident’s medications, treatment supplies and any ancillary equipment that may be needed to send with residents. Lastly, registered nurses will be responsible to assist where needed in the preparation stages, make phone calls to families to notify them of the evacuation and what facility their loved ones will be re-located and check residents to ensure all necessary items are with residents. Also, information will be giving to the transportation companies on the number of resident who will be able to transport in wheelchair and the number that require stretcher transport. Sister facilities that are not being evacuated their management team will assist with the evacuation process. The nursing facilities have had evacuation drills and some of the process have been worked through to make it easier and more efficient during an actual evacuation which has happened when the nursing facility in Currituck was actual evacuated and residents were transferred to the sister
