Introduction of Six Healthcare Facilities The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), is the health science campus for the University of Mississippi, located in the heart of Jackson, MS. The Medical Center first opened its doors on July 1, 1955. The University of Mississippi Medical Center is the state of Mississippi only academic medical center. Dominic’s Health Services was started in 1946. St. Dominic is a 535-bed acute care facility located in Jackson, Mississippi. St. Dominic is an organization that consist of acute hospital care, continuing community care, and a full range of outpatient and community services. The mission of St. Dominic hospital is to perform services in the name of Jesus Christ. St. Dominic strive to make their community better. St. Dominic is a hospital that not only strive to provide for individuals that are sick but also offer education and wellness services to the community with hopes to improve the health status of their surrounding population. The other goal of this healthcare facility is to educate the community on ways to eliminate risk factors for serious health problems.
