On a weekly basis transitioning from counselor to client, allowed me to see myself internally and most of all self –evaluate myself. Being the counselor on a weekly basis was a learning process, I was able to recognize my strengths and weakness. Also, being the counselor and developing a therapeutic relationship with my client was very imperative. As the interviewer, I wanted to assure my client that I was there for her by following her story week after week and implementing the microskills that I learned in class. Being able to meet my client where she was and developing goals, made me feel very ecstatic as the counselor to have known that I was an aid to the client every week. The issues that were discussed during our sessions as the counselor sometimes mad me cry and feel sad and others just put a smile on my face to have seen that the client was making progress. I didn’t only view this class as the foundation of counseling, this class also has helped me grow as the client on a weekly basis. Along with me seeking therapy and meeting with Sharon, helped me to know myself better. Opening up to her about my personal life issues and concerns allowed me to see that my past is not my future. I understand now that I’m deserving of the opportunity like everyone else and I don’t have to feel guilty about it. Sharon followed my stories throughout our sessions, she would introduce tools that will enable me to see the beauty and worth in myself. As the client, I’m now able to view issues and concerns form a different perspective. Doing this has helped me to view people and society on a different level. I walked away with my goals being met as the client with the help of the interviewer. As the client my self-conscious and shyness has decreased. I no longer worry about how people judge me based on my looks. Being the client has helped me become more confident in myself. I enjoyed this course and my eyes has been opened to allow me to see myself internally and
