Horus The Avenger Research Paper

Horus the Avenger was by far the greatest god. He won the throne from Set, he gave his power to the pharaohs of Egypt and was one of the most powerful and respected gods in the whole of Egyptian mythology. By far Horus’s most dangerous adventure was his encounter with his evil uncle, Set. Set had cut up Osiris and threw his pieces throughout the land. It was Isis’s job to go get the pieces and resurrect him. After Osiris was resurrected Isis became pregnant with Horus. Horus grew up and trained on the floating island of Chemmis until he was an adult. When he was of age he challenged Set’s right to rule before the court of the gods. Set and Horus argued for a long time, but eventually Set challenged Horus to a multitude of contests. The winner would become king. Set did not play fair though and after a few horrid rounds Set won and was rightfully king. Isis hated this and decided to help Horus and set a trap for the evil god, Set. When Set was captured, he begged Isis for his life. She let him free. When Horus found out that his mother had let loose his enemy, he got very very mad and yelled at his mother. …show more content…
He worked on Ra’s sun boat (before he took the throne) and was Ra’s chief officer. In other words, he was #2 in all the land. Every night, Horus, Ra, Isis, and a ton of other gods all went on Ra’s sun boat through the realm of the dead bringing happiness, joy, and light. They faced many challenges and fought them off handily. After all this they stopped for a feast in the halls of Osiris at the 8th cataract. Horus was also parcial god of the sky and the symbol of power and Lower Egypt. Higher Egypt was Set’s land. When the two Egypts combined, a new god was formed.
