As I watch the foreboding clouds approach and the wind whipping the tops of the towering pines, I huddled beneath a sturdy bush. The celerity of the currents increased rapidly and it looked as if the smallest of the waves were topped with white caps. The thick bush did not shield me from the thrashing sprays of the river. As the winds accelerated, I heard a sudden crash and the ground beneath my wet paws rumbled. I was overcome with a wave of fear and curiosity as I went to see what had made the sudden crash upon the ground and find a fallen pine tree. In the distance, I hear the clash of cobblestone against horse hooves and I venture towards the clattering. The rain pelts me in the face as I strain to observe what animal is nearing me, and I see a majestic and …show more content…
I could sense the horses intuition and hesitation, as it back stepped and raised its head with a deep winnie. The cart abruptly stops behind the uneasy horse, and the driver incessantly whips the horse, confused as to why it will not go forward. I worriedly crawl towards the bridge in speculation of what could be causing the horse to act in this manner. As I look up beneath the bridge a miniscule waterfall cascades through a gaping hole in the bridge and I realize that this is the cause of horses hesitation. Yelling from the toll-gate, a man warns the driver of the cart not to venture any further, due to the unsafe structure of the bridge. The driver heads his command and abruptly pulls the reins and turns the horse in one sharp gesture. The cart then becomes unsteady on the cobblestone, as the horse leads them back to safety. The rain is becoming more intense, and I slowly trudged through the slick, muddy river bank with my soaked layer of fur. Finding a relief from the downpour, I huddled back into the shelter of the thick bush and replayed the series of events that had just

Journal Entry 1 – Descriptive Entry (Act II - Proctor) Diary, Although I had promised myself to never open and write in this book again, I can’t help but feel that today’s events should be recorded in here so I can set them away from my mind. If the memories are remembered in here, I wouldn’t to hold remember them in my mind. I had just come back home after a long day of planting and tending the land. I placed my rifle down beside the fireplace as I was welcomed in by the wave of warmth, a distinct contrast from the merciless chill outside.…

I was over ecstatic when Fernando, (also known as Fernie) my best guy friend asked me to go on a walking adventure with him in our hometown of Kelseyville, California. We started off the day by walking in the forest alongside of Kelsey Creek. This forest has a really big meaning to Fernie and I, because we both love nature in every aspect and these walking adventures are not uncommon to us. Starting on the path we both got lost in our own thoughts, I got distracted by looking above me at the the canopy the tree branches created. My eyes followed the patterns the sunlight was creating as it broke through the leaves and cascaded onto the uneven forest floor.…

When the boy in “Chickamauga” fell asleep, the animals seemed to be celebrating. The wood-birds sang merrily above his head, the squirrels, whisking their bravery of tail, ran barking from tree to tree……and from somewhere far away came a strange, muffled thunder, as if the partridges were drumming in celebration of Nature’s victory over the son of her immemorial enslavers,” (pg. 1204). The wounded men that he saw were also compared to animals. “Suddenly he saw before him a strange moving object, which he took to be some large animal……Before it had approached near enough to resolve his doubts he saw that it was followed by another – and another. To right and to left were many more: the whole open space about him was alive with them – all moving…

I felt the temperature drop from the tropical heat to a cold breeze in the area we were going to stop; a trickle of water running down a wall in the new area fell into the silence with an ominous manner. Then a sudden splash of water soaked the group ahead of ours and masked an object with heavy steps that darted out. “Garahhhaka,” the same hair-lifting tone that had massacred the field of people shrieked. The creature was hungry and had been hunting us all the way.…

Let me go back to when it all began I jolted awake as a blood curdling howl pierced the bitter cold air. What started out as a seemingly relaxed hiking trip turned into 3 days of pure, adreneline driven, survival, when a pack of ravenous, blood-thirsty gray wolves started hunting me. I thought I had lost them when I jumped 3 and a half meters across an almost bottomless ravine going a mile in either direction. I don't know how they caught up to me, but now was not the time to think about that.…

The Horses represent the soldiers and their emotions that they carefully hide. During the exchange of fire, some horses were hit and the soldiers felt as if their cries were like “ the moaning of the world, the martyred creation, wild with anguish, filled with terror and groaning” (30). We know that they are the innocent ones, but are suffering the inflicted pain for the guilty and from the guilty. By expressing what they are feeling, it demonstrates what the soldier have kept inside of them and exposes the harsh reality of the…
