Horrors of Animal Testing!
“Animals can suffer like humans do, so it is speciesism to experiment on them while we refrain from experimenting on humans” (“Using Animal For Testing: Pros Versuses Cons”). This quotation is why animal testing is cruel and problematic. Define animal testing. Thesis. Why is animal testing bad? Some substances that is tested doesn't actually get used in the real world. That being said, the animals being tested on get harmed for just about no reason. Humans and animals have differences. Which means the drug could have a different effect on humans (“Using Animals for Testing: Pros Versuses Cons”). are given with medicine that are tested by mouth maybe different …show more content…
Eye irritations test are where chemicals that get rubbed on there eyes. The animals they do that to are mice, rats, rabbits, and guinea pigs (11 facts about animal testing).
What is good about animal testing? Testing on animal has helped to produce life saving cures, and treatments. Animals have been a big part of medicine breakthrough in the last 100 years.
“My own experience of over 60 years in biomedical research amply demonstrated that without the use of animals and of human beings, it would have been impossible to acquire the important knowledge needed to prevent much suffering and premature death not only among humans but also among [other] animals.” -Albert sabin This is saying that animal testing has helped a lot of people with major breakthroughs. We wouldn’t be as far as we are in medicine because of animal testing.
That's how we have a lot of medicine now and more to come in the …show more content…
Something is cancer, TB, flu, and asthma. Animals are the reason we are able to have a hip replacement surgery, kidney transplant, heart transplant, and blood transfusion. Animals helped develop the CT and MRI. Survival rates have started to rise up because animal testing research. Asthma inhalers were tested to make sure it was of by animals. The animal testers take care of there test animal, because they know that it gives better results. The animals are fed on a healthy diet and have access to veterinary care. The animal tester uses the three R system. The three R system is Refinement, Reduction, and Replacement. Refinement means making the experience as painless as possible for the animal involved. Reduction means develop techniques to use fewer animals in research wherever possible or get more information from the same number of animals. Replacement means use alternative methods wherever possible (Anderson Dave). Most of the animals that are used in experiments reproduces quickly and have a short life span. It is easier and more life like to experiment on that specific kind, so that way they can see how a medicine interacts with a living organism of a whole life time. The reproduction helps to see if any of the effects moves on with the offspring (Anderson
