“Do you like scary movies?” – Ghostface, Scream
Who can forget those classic horror lines that still give you the creeps at night? But like every other genre of film, horror movies have progressed over the decades, adjusting to each new generation and preying on or catering to their fears. My name is Joee Granato and today I will be selling to you my new cutting edge horror film but before I get to that I’d like to talk about how I came to the idea of this movie.
As I said before, horror has evolved over the decades for each generation. This is a result of different real life events occurring which bring a great fear to that generation. Some events from the past would be going to the moon which resulted in a lot of movies about alien invasions. The beginning of nuclear power lead to films about mutated animals, insects and people. The approval of abnormal human psychology allowed for "Psycho" to launch a new sub-genre, thrillers about psychotic killers. And real-life killers caused the rise of "slasher" movies of the early 80s. Now this was all well and good back then but what we need is something new. Enough of the unnecessary sequels of the same old thing. Now you may be thinking yes that’s easy to say but how and what is new?

Now not many people have fears of technology but this makes it a perfect target to the next genre of horror. One of the biggest fears of technology would be artificial intelligence taking over the world ending the human race but this has been done before. So what hasn’t? Have you ever had the feeling someone or something is watching you? What if every piece of technology in your home had someone on the other end watching your every move? From your new smart TV to your mobile phone. The idea of someone always watching and knowing what you are doing through the use of technology can bring a new spin to the horror genre. So these ideas have led to what I believe as the new age of

They called it the Magic City, the Gateway to Latin America or the Cocaine Capital but to me it is the city of opposites. From the Downtown's skyscrapers' vertigo to be insecure in Overtown or Little Haiti, from being treated like a royalty in its exquisite restaurants to food truck weddings, from brilliant pastel Art Deco buildings to powerful red, blue or black grafitti walls, Miami transforms everything and everybody in matter of seconds. There is a piece of the city for everyone: the sports lover has Miami Heat and Miami Dolphins, the book lover has the Annual Food and Wine Festival or the Miami Spice Festival, the business person has the financial Brickell district, the traveler - the beaches, the water and the National Parks, the contemporary…

Hitchcock’s Psycho, from ‘Inside Norman Bates’ and ‘The World Inside Its Image’ The benchmark of horror films could easily be Hitchcock’s most revered work ‘Psycho’ (1960). The black and white filmscape does not downplay the crimson colour of blood spiralling down the plughole after Marion’s fatal stabbing, nor the shock of Norman’s mothers sunken eye sockets. It’s 2015 and this is the first time I have properly been introduced to the film however as a testament to its making I had nightmares that evening and since then having a shower is a different experience altogether.…

This fun-filled roller coaster is one that you will never forget. You will be jumping up and down, ecstatically knowing that you’re about to ride Toy Story Express. Not only are all the twists and turns super enjoyable, but so is the entertaining scene that you experience as you speed past some of the characters from Toy Story. The surrounding environment is a bedroom, much like Andy’s. You’ll get the perspective of the toys as you accelerate towards things like a giant bed, dresser, desk, and a treasure chest that Andy used for storage.…

Every year, Halloween is different when it comes to the costumes and outfits that are considered "in" and "out." This year, zombies - or "walkers," as they're known on the AMC series "The Walking Dead" - are all the rage, while Elsa from the computer-generated animated feature film "Frozen" is yesterday's news. But one thing that every Halloween has in common is candy - lots and lots of candy. And the only way kids can get their hands on their precious loot is by going from door to door.…

The horror genre has, more or less, become one that ignites our deepest fears and desires. The sub-genre of zombie films force audiences to question themselves on many different aspects about life. Surely, concepts such as the uncanny and allegorical meanings arise when discussing such texts. The zombie horror has seen significant change over the past few decades, the most notable being the quality of production, graphics and costume. From white paint applied to the face to now detailed graphics that show the gore and horror of living dead.…

Art imitates life and life imitates art. As an art form, films surrounds society in popular culture and general daily life. What an audience sees in film would be considered to mirror how people construct themselves. Gender portrayals in the movies can often be based on continually perpetuated stereotypes and expectations of how people should act. Firstly, the two films that will be discussed in this essay come from a time where there were believed to be only two genders and sexes.…

Take Ray Bradbury for instance. Back then, he was thought to be insane for the thoughts he incorporated in his book, Fahrenheit 451. Now a revered classic, the book is a reflection of Bradbury’s fears regarding technology. In his time, modern technology was barely beginning. In fact, few people had televisions and those who did were watching their entertainment on small screens in black and white.…

For what seems like forever, I’ve had the same complaint about the state of the horror genre. One film after another follows a nearly identical premise, depicting a small group of people wandering around a dark, confined area (typically a house or forest) - haunted by a member of the supernatural community. The ghule in question varies based on the story, taking the form of ugly shadow figures, women draped in black, children, and dolls - all focused on causing chaos. That said, this is a genre that has shown little interest in evolving - evident in the recent release of films that include The Conjuring 2, The Boy, The Witch, and The Forest (for whatever reason, most horror titles love incorporating “The” in the title).…

Screams, bloody scenes, and suspenseful music are all the ingredients for a scream filled tormenting movie referred to as a horror movie or a scary flick. Horror films are movies that are created to provide a feeling of fright, unease and panic to the people viewing them. Some people love the adrenaline rush they get from the unexpected killer slicing his victims head off its body. Others love to watch horror films because of the love they feel from their partner while watching the movie. A certain scene in the movie might be so graphic that they cannot help but hold and console each other.…

I have always been attracted to scary movies, like the bees are attracted to pollen and nectar in flowers. I do not know where this attraction for these indescribable and sometimes unbelievable movies come from, but I am sure that I like them. I have been watching scary movies since I was a child, not as often as now when a new scary movie comes out and everybody wants to watch it but somehow like that, I know you might wonder why every time a new scary movie comes out in theater almost everybody wants to watch it, well I came up with the conclusion that it is because the world is changing and so the people in it, we have now different beliefs, we have another concept of scary, not like 100 or 50 years ago when people used to be afraid of things as simple as the eco of the voice in an empty house or homosexual people, they were afraid of things they did not understand, now a day people are afraid of what they do not understand too perhaps they are more aware of things that surround us.…
