There are some pros to reading a horror genre at our grade level. One reason that we should be able to read story that involve horror, is that it could contain great literary skills for us and greater comprehension that could help us build our vocabulary levels. For example in the book, “The Tell-Tale Heart,” it contains greater vocabulary than that I knew of like vex, stifle, vehemently, crevice, etc. Some other reasons why we should be able to read the books of a horror genre is that it reveals of fear emotion, which is the greatest emotion we have in our life. Some cons that can come from this is that student can either feel uncomfortable or even frightened by the use of strong language or visuals in which they are reading. Some other things is that parents of students reading of this kind of genre is that they might not approve of them reading horror stories, because they don’t want creepy things smashed into their heads. Another reason is that kids might feel frightened and could even get nightmares from reading the books. Some examples of this is in the book, “The Tell-Tale Heart,” you read of a crazy person who is off his rocker about an eye of a man, and goes on to gruesomely kill him and put him under the wooden flooring of the house.
