Being a TCU horned frog feels right for many reasons. TCU affords me the opportunity to move away from my hometown, Waco, it allows me to select from any of the majors I've considered; it provides me all of the resources I need to learn and excel; and it means I get to cheer on one of the best football teams in the nation, all while being in a faith-growing environment. I found, during my campus tour, the aspect I was most impressed by was the TCU spirit. Every student my tour group encountered wore a prideful smile, excitedly greeting their peers and every now and then one would yell a “Go frogs!”.…
"Monster is a relative word; to a canary, a cat is a monster. So far we humans were used to being cats." After the first three movies in the series, you might think that they would have learnt of their incapacity to contain a dinosaur – precisely the reason why Jurassic Park was shut down at the end of the third movie. Twenty-two years later, the park has been reopened, renamed and revamped. The theme park, dubbed Jurassic World, is now owned by Simon Masrani (Irrfan Khan) who has taken Hammond's dream of a dinosaur amusement park to a whole new level.…

Because of the stray cats and dogs, some people accidently hurt the ecosystem more when they realize it by letting their cat or dog go outside and dig holes and scratch the trees all over the yard. The cats and dogs will destroy the things like trash, mail boxes, flower beds, gardens and other things like that. The helpers have to work harder than before because of the cats that put their hair balls everywhere in the yard or get in to fights with other animals and take over their homes. The dogs also sometimes form into packs, which is worse because they can do more damage together. But there is a way to get rid of this…

The Smoky Mountains are home to a wide variety of plants. The Great Smoky Mountains national park is over 800 square miles, and throughout this vast space is found a large diversity of plants. The national park is over 95% forested, and is sometimes referred to as the “wildflower national park”. While over 12,000 plant species have been discovered in the park, there is evidence that there may be as many as 90,000 unfound species. The range of elevations throughout the Smoky Mountains makes it a suitable habitat for a variety of plant species.…
Have you ever wonder the evolution of certain animals? My wonders are how komodo dragons evolved to be the way they are. What are komodo dragons adaptations like and how come they have had to adapt that way? What are the organisms that are closest related to a komodo dragon? How did the komodo dragon get to what it is from its ancestors?…

In the poem, “Dinosaur in the Hood” by Danez Smith, he discusses most stereotypes happen within movies and he explains how they are portrayed. The place where you can find the sand lizard is across Europe and into parts of Asia. You can usually find a sand lizard in inhabiting grass and heath-lands along the costal dunes throughout the native range. Male sand lizards are a dull brown color and it turns green during mating season to attract a female. The sand lizard is a carnivore so it has to hunt its food. The brown color of the sand lizard acts as a good camouflage when the sand lizard is sun-bathing.…

California Wildfires: A Burning Problem California, as of recent decades, has a warming relationship with wildfires. The state has seen an increase in wildfires which some believe to be attributed to anthropogenic climate change. Climate change is expected to result in more variable weather patterns that are likely to lead to longer and more severe droughts (“Climate change”, 2016).…
Conservation Biology is a vital component of the wildlife and natural resources field of work. Increasingly it has shaped my professional interests and career choices over the last several years as its importance is made clear by mounting threats to biodiversity and ecosystem balance. Without the ideology and practices developed in the field of conservation biology many of the species we consider common today would have easily gone extinct in the early 20th century due to a lack of well-considered wildlife management. However, there are many components to achieving the goals of conservation biology. Research, management, and policy are where change is made to help wildlife.…
