Throughout my four years at Horn high school, I have noticed that many students at JHHS show an abundance of school spirit. For example, for every football game the student section decides what to be worn. My friend Brett made a twitter page for the students of Horn to tell students when to wear their senior shirts or Last Friday, we played Mesquite we were told to wear white and to splatter the skeeters. In addition, on pep rally days we have a certain theme that we follow. Two themes that we’ve had this year was a USA theme and neon theme. Walking down the halls, I witnessed many people wearing tutus that were sparkling and dazzling red, white, and blue and also saw a countless amount of students wearing neon and tie-dye shirts. Ever since Gale Ranch opened, there has been a school dress code. Gale Ranch students melted into a pool of anger and are now breaking it. Some students don’t like dress code because they think it doesn’t affect their learning and it doesn’t allow them to express themselves. Students seem to ignore the fact that the dress code is there to make the environment easier to learn in, so that students would not be distracted by what other people are wearing. Staff at Gale Ranch makes sure students follow the dress code by making them go to the office, and change into PE clothes.…

On the popular show Gossip Girl, characters arrive at school every day looking pristine and put together, with their plaid skirts, crisply pressed button up shirts, and cashmere blazers. Though Maumee Valley is no TV show and may not be set in the bustling streets of New York City, we should take note of the iconic school uniforms. A school uniform policy is a fundamental change in the environment of students (Bowen). This could improve our school image and let Maumee Valley reach its highest potential.…

My time at Barnegat High School has helped me to become who I am today and will most defiantly impact what I will do in the future. The teachers and my peers have all been an influence on my life and during the four years that I spent at the school, I have done some things for the school and the community as a way to thank them for giving me the opportunities that they have. It was they who pushed me to keep trying and striding to succeed and without them, I would not have accomplished what I have today. One of the things that I am most proud of doing is helping to bring new clubs and activities to Barnegat High School. This year, with the help of other students and advisors, a new club made it into the ranks of the diverse sea of clubs and groups that already exist.…

Administration such as Senator Stephenson must immediately send innocent children to the office for this ridiculous blue-coated “Dress-code Violation” attire and pressing suspension to those who wish not to humiliate and embarrass themselves throughout the school day. I say it is downright deliberate intent to embarrass every student in every way possible by their operation of throwing the “Blue Suit” upon us. But certainly, from here on out, Westlake High School Dress-code shall no longer be enforced. We, students of Westlake High School now consider ourselves free to wear as we wish. He has refused to pass other laws on how teachers shouldn’t loosely teach us students without the intent of us learning something, yet he’d rather enforce something less important in a school atmosphere; an interrupted right to wear what we solemnly desire to express ourselves.…

Schools enforcing a dress code on students will hinder them to express themselves who they want to be. For instance, a student who is into superheroes would wear a superman shirt with matching socks. They display the comic in heroes; express the true nerdy side and being a kid who wants to learn. They also can be good in different subject such as art, reading and writing from interest in comics. Or if a girl is into flowers and animals express that they are joyful, bright and cheerful.…

T-shirt or shirt, jean or pant, tie or no tie, these are among the hardest decisions to make. Some students tend to like being dressed up, despite the fact that they are just going to a regular school day. They ought to wear fancy clothes, colorful dresses, in which they need to check once or twice inside the closet until they have their preference, ending up being late to school. As the saying goes, rather than paying our time looking at our wardrobe, we can literally put on the school uniform to save time, dressed formally just like their peers. Indeed, in comparison to regular school uniform, those luxurious clothes are much more expensive.…

As a white male high school junior I completely oppose the stringent dress code that was put into effort. The fact that students’ freedom to express themselves have been taken away is very unconstitutional, especially in a country that has always promoted free speech and one’s freedom to express themselves. Neither a school administrator nor anyone else should have the right to tell a student what to wear or to look. It should not be constitutional to tell a boy to cut his hair as it does in the Perryville School District dress code, as the length of a boys’ hair should not affect his right to learn. For example, in the case of Chesley Karr, who fought for his right to wear his hair long to school, I found it extremely unjust that he was robbed of a public school education simply because his hair was long.…
