Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

Decent Essays
Thank you for your post Aramis! I highly respect your opinion and the fact that you would advise women to stay away from hormone replacement therapy. Let me remind you that a lot of over the counter medicine have the same side effects and risks as hormone replacement therapy. According to Bakour and Williamson (2015), “Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is the most effective treatment for symptoms of estrogen deficiency. When HRT is individually tailored women gain maximum advantages and the risks are minimized” (P. 20). Latest researches have actually find that the risks are less than previously stated and it is beneficial for menopausal women to have hormone replacement therapy.

Despite the decrease in fragility fracture and a decrease in the risk for colon cancer, overall health risks generally outweigh benefits from hormonal replacement therapy in older postmenopausal women with a higher incidence of cardiovascular events (unstable angina, thromboembolic stroke, venous thromboembolism including pulmonary embolism) and increased incidence of the endometrial and breast cancer (Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)). Younger women who had surgical menopause due to endometriosis run the risk of having osteoporosis at an earlier age. Hormonal replacement therapy may prevent the risks of osteoporosis and menopausal symptoms for these younger women, but the hormonal replacement therapy could result in the endometriosis symptoms and disease recurring. Hormonal replacement therapy does not seem to be a good solution to help prevent and/or treat osteoporosis. All other opinions to prevent and/or treat osteoporosis should be used before hormonal replacement therapy.…

It’s always the way, if something goes right you don’t notice it but when it goes wrong is when people complain.…

The first hormonal birth control pill, Enovid, was approved by the Federal Drug Administration in 1690. Hormonal contraceptives work by combining estrogen, the female sexual hormone, and progestin, a derivative of progesterone that prevents ovulation, together to inhibit ovulation and create an inhabitable cervical environment for both sperm and embryos. Therefore, oral contraceptives effectively block the fertility cycle by not allowing sperm to meet an egg or implantation of a fertilized fetus. When a woman takes birth control, she effectively can prevent pregnancy until she feels ready physically, mentally, and financially to support a child. This reproductive control directly impacts the social institutions of education, economics, and…

As a consequence, there is an increased risk of incident mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia, which has been demonstrated by several studies [3-5]. Although beneficial, these synthetic hormones are unhealthy for women and have a tremendous amount of side effects, some from long term use including; nausea, mood swings, depletion of nutrients, decreased bone density, impaired sex drive, depression, and gallbladder disease (“Risks…
