Ralf Dahrendorf focused on the normal structure of unequal distribution of power in society but it does not cause destruction. He talked about the democratic institutions that try to unite order. An example is the gang violence in California. There are many policies in play that may help bring some kind of truce. Dahrendorf explains the structure of capitalism; that there is no ownership, but management. Not one ruling class controls the means of production. We can apply this example in our society with companies that have shareholders. These are people who own a share of a corporation or company and hope to gain profit from it. An example of this is when I had a discussion with Dr. Mack and he told me, “I own a share of the Green Bay Packers.” Conflict is an ongoing occurrence in society. Power is unequally distributed and given to the “Power Elite” who are the decision makers. These theorists have advanced my knowledge of social conflict, the power elite, and economic change in the development in today’s
