Horatio's Ghost

Decent Essays
During the reading, Horatio implied that the Ghost is “guilty”, extravagant, and has an erring spirit. Horatio also warned Hamlet that the Ghost may bring him into madness due to the fact that this Ghost is also Hamlet's father, whom he was very close too. That is the reason why Hamlet is able to communicate with this ghost. This would bring madness to Hamlet because after the passing of his father, the Queen (hamlet’s mother), remarried very quickly to Hamlet’s uncle. From Hamlet’s point of view, this Ghost is trustworthy because it is also his own father, and that he is a great King. Hamlet is concerned why people are not mourning the loss of this great King, while he is the only that seems to be very sad after the loss of his own father.

Early on in Hamlet by William Shakespeare, a line is spoken that foreshadows and sets the scene for the entire play. The ‘rottenness’ in Denmark is spun off when Claudius kills King Hamlet in order to take over the throne. In the era that Hamlet was written, Elizabethans believed that all was connected.…

Hamlet’s uncle poisoned the king, so he could control the kingdom, he betrayed Hamlet’s father just as Hamlet’s father betrayed the father of Fortinbras, the Norwegian prince. Several themes can be traced throughout the play. Two prominent themes include the constant reinforcing of male dominance, and the question of reality vs. unreality. Women are powerless within the play because they are seen as inferior; they depend upon the help of men to clear any existing conflicts or raise them to positions of power.…
