Horatio In Hamlet

There’s always that one particular person that is in the background interacts enough with events in daily life to know what is going on, but also is far away from it all enough to see what is the most possible outcome of the incomes. Horatio from William Shakespeare Hamlet would be a very good example of this special person. He is the best friend of Hamlet and is the first to see the ghost of his father. Horatio is also what would be known in more modern literary terms as the wise man of the story. He is right beside the main character through his discovery in the entire play. Without Horatio in this drama it would lose the insights, foreshadowing, and knowledge after Hamlet has died. Horatio all throughout the play is the one that will often hint at what is to come. He even states his insight on this situation as well as a foreshadowing of what would happen within the drama later. Horatio states this on page 1097 “What if it tempt you toward the flood my lord, Or to the dreadful summit of the cliff That beetles o’er his base into the sea, And there assume some other horrible for Which might deprive your sovereignty of reason, And draw you into madness? Think of it, The very place puts toys of desperation,
Without more motive, into every brain

He is the one of the only people that survives the end where most of the characters die. In the last scene Hamlet, Laertes, the King, and the Queen are all killed within a few moments of each other. So, one of the few people left are Horatio which allows him to tell the rest of the story. He tells what happens after their dearth which is when some of the ambassadors of England come to finally support the new King with all of his trials in the kingdom, but he is not there.
