Hope Solo Accomplishments

Hope Solo is an incredible athlete/soccer player that has gone through hard times and knows everything that it takes to get to the top. In her early years she had hard times and she has learned how important the people she loves in her life. Her later life is filled with wonderful memories, loving teammates, and difficult times that she had to learn to get through. Hope’s accomplishments have inspired many different athletes of all ages. Hope Solo was born in Richland Washington on July 30, 1981. She was born into a broken family with her parents getting divorced. She favored her dad and grandparents and had some hard times with her mom. The only woman in her life that was her older half-sister who always took care of her. She always had a very close relationship with her dad when they met again. When she was 14, she played for the Olympic Professional Development and she started as goalie. As she got into highschool she played goalie but once in awhile she would play forward. Her senior year, she lead her team to the state championship and won. She also played basketball in highschool and reached the state semifinals her senior year. While she was looking for colleges, she received many scholarships to play both sports. She decided to just play soccer and go to the University of Washington because it felt like home to her. It also healed her and her mom's relationship because her mom was so proud of all of her accomplishments she had so far and Hope realized how important her mom is to her. Her later life started in her early years in college. Hope Solo started her freshman year at the University of Washington as goalie. All of her accomplishments have made her who she is today in the soccer world. In high school, Hope finished her high school career with 109 goals and was named All American goalie for U-17 (under 17). She was a the Pac-10 Player of the Year her sophomore year in college and received the Hermann Award her senior year in college. Hope also has 3 All- American awards. As a professional women's soccer player, she has played in the World Cup and the Olympics. She has received two Olympic gold medals and two world cup golden glove awards.
