Hi I'm Colleen Burns and I attend Hope College in Holland, Michigan. I just finished up an amazing first year at a school that I knew only one person going into it. I joined a sorority my second semester and I have made so many new friends through it. I am from Deerfield, Illinois and went to Deerfield High School. I come from a loving family of 7, so you can probably imagine the chaos of our everyday lives. I would consider myself a very social person and I love going out of my way to help others.
This is my first online class that I have ever taken, so this is a whole new ball game for me! I am pretty good at time management, so I don't think the time crunch of the class should be a problem. I am usually a visual learner, so having the readings and assignments all online might be a little difficult, but that's nothing I can't handle.
Like I said before, I am studying at Hope College and going into my second year there. I have declared my major as elementary special education LD. I love being in classrooms and I especially enjoy spending time with kids that have special needs. It takes a lot of …show more content…
Both of these topics are very broad, so I will have to narrow them down, but there are endless possibilities on where to go with them. The impacts of war hits close to home with anyone and especially those who have a loved one or themselves have been directly affected by a war. Everyone in one way or another is impacted, which is why I am interested in learning more about the topic and maybe ways to help. Discrimination in education is an obvious one for me granted I am becoming a teacher. I have student taught in 2 different schools already and have already seen first hand discrimination within the school systems. Because I plan on having my own classroom one day, I want to make the learning environment equal for
