I Think the Character Hope Yancy Could be my friend. Hope’s personality is hopefulness. While Hope was working as a waitress at a diner in Brooklyn, New York and Addie was the head cook. The owner had something secretive planned up his sleeve. The owner, Gleason Beal ran away with all the diners money and stole Charlene a night waitress from her husband. Later on in the book Hope describes Gleason Beal as a, “Robber. Stealer. Purloiner (I like that one). larcenist. pilferer. poacher. Swindler,” according to page 60 in the book. During the book she does not care about what happened in her past. Addie and Tulip(Hope) were looking through a “name dictionary” and they stumbled upon the name Hope. So on Tulips twelfth birthday she changed her name to Hope. She changed it to this name because on page 7 it says, “I think hope is just about the best thing a person can have.”

One of the settings in the book was The Welcome Stairways Diner. I would visit this place because when they treat you, it feels like home. One of the reasons I could treat the Welcome Stairways Diner Like home is because the people working are like home. The Cook Braverman for example, he works next to Addie and when they

This song shows that the person scored a big win, and the other person or opponent did not even come close. During the book the current mayor cheated to win. According to the book on page 166 it says, “One hundred and twenty registered voters on the official books claimed they never register, much less voted.” So Eli Millstone was on fire in the political community. One line from the song says “I told you homeboy u can't touch this.” This means that the opponent wasn’t close to winning. Another line says, “Fresh new kicks and pants, You got it like that now you know you wanna dance, So move out of your seat.” I think this means that the “loser” should go and let the new winner

In 1976, the Swedish group ABBA ravished the world with their hit song “Dancing Queen.” Even after 30 years since its exposition at King Carl Gustaf’s ball, the song remains a favorite in dance clubs. Mixed with pop-operatic harmonies and inspiration to the dance rhythm in George McCrae's "Rock Your Baby," as well as the drumming on Dr. John's 1972 album “Dr. John's Gumbo”, ABBA is able to convey an elated feeling of limitless joy and highlights the greatest music of the disco era. Through a beautifully woven blend of uplifting, empowering lyrics and a sophisticated melody scattered with heart-tugging high notes, “Dancing Queen” celebrates the carefree innocence of youth.…

Privilege is a special right granted to a specific person or group of people. Historically, whites have been more privileged and cannot relate with the mistreatment blacks have suffered through such as, slavery, lynchings, and Jim Crow laws. Released on July 1, 1991, the single Mind Playing Tricks On Me by the Geto Boys delved into the mental stress of gangsta and drug addict lifestyles, and addressed how one reaffirmed their existence. During this period, the group consisted of Willie D, Scarface, and Bushwick Bill. They acknowledged their issues, such as coping, vulnerability, and reasons for living. Through this song, one is able to deduce that the lyrics and beat complement one another, and the first few verses set the tone of the entire track. Although there was a tendency for intoxication and profanity during the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Geto Boys hit Mind Playing Tricks On Me is a classic hip hop song that inspired generations of rappers in suit, is not one solely about drugs, and vocally illustrated hardships that were not commonly spoken of during that time.…

Juxtaposition plays a huge part in the song as it places 2 completely opposite opinions side by side. P.F Slogan, using this feature, helps create a clear point of view in the listener’s head, showing how ridiculous certain decisions were. In the first verse he juxtaposes, “You’re old enough to kill” with “but not for voting” and ‘you don’t believe in war” with “then what’s that gun your totin.” Another example of juxtaposition in the song is “Hate you next door neighbour” with “but don’t forget to say grace” (4th Verse/Bridge). Metaphors such as “the world in a grave” (2nd verse) and “even the Jordan River has bodies floatin” (1st verse) causes the listener consider the implications this song was trying to display, a strong but balanced sense of fear, courage and indifference .…

“All Star” by Smash Mouth is encouraging song about choosing to be spectacular at what you do. The tone of the song is quite casual, written in first person and as if it was a conversation between the listener and the singer. It starts off with the singer admitting that “somebody once told me that the world is going to roll me”, and that he “ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed”. Clearly he doesn’t think that he amounts to much in the long run when it comes to following the rules and book smarts. This is furthered by him going to say that “it didn’t make sense not to live for fun, your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb”.…

Music Composer for To Kill a Mockingbird • “Ultralight Beam” by Kanye West is the first song on this soundtrack. The second verse by Kelly Price talks about how “You persecute the weak / Because it makes you feel so strong,” similar to when Atticus talks about how Mayella is putting this man on trial so she doesn’t have to deal with the fact she kissed a black man. They both possess the mood of being somber. The song makes you feel as if there are problems that have been corrected and you finally feel free. The book, however, highlights the racial divide between whites and blacks.…

Have you ever heard a song that has impacted your life? Songs are a form of art that allows artists to express their feelings in a form of music. Songs can be interrupted in many ways; some songs have a more literal meaning, while other songs require you to interpret the lyrics to understand the deeper meaning. Artists often use figurative, metaphorical, and poetic elements in their songs to help develop the overall message. The use of figurative terms in a song leaves the interpretation of the song broad and allows the listener to have their own meaning of the song.…

If my life was a television show or a movie, the theme song I would chose would be “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift. I chose this song because I feel like it best describes my attitude towards life and situations. The first impression I would want the audience to make about me would be that I have a happy spirit and I try to always stay positive and not let things bother me. I want people to see that although bad things can happen, it’s your attitude that gets you through and makes it better. I always say, the better the attitude, the better the situation.…
