Of Mice And Men In the novella Of Mice And Men, John Steinbeck uses dreams to give hope and bring friendship. Steinbeck gives us many examples of this theme. The first example is when Candy’s dog dies so then he joins George and Lennie and their dream of owning land. Second is Crooks’ memory of his father’s chicken ranch. A third example is George and Lennie’s dream of having their own place. These three examples display the theme of dreams and how it can give people a sense of importance.
