The Middle Ages were between 476 AD and 1500. This was a time of both hope and despair. There was a lot of agricultural growth, but also a lot of death.
Towns, Commerce and Trade all grew larger during this time. People were able to starts businesses and actually make a living from them because of all the people in the city. Poor people had hope that they might be able to improve their life because of this. Serfs mostly referred to as Peasants, actually accumulated land and were able to buy their life back.
On the other hand, despair struck the Middle Ages hard. With disease such as the Black Death, it killed off most of the population. Even though peasants could work their way up, poverty was still big in these days. Fear of Muslim invasion,
