Hoover strongly believes that Ms. Maldonato, the immigrant whose success in two languages, English and law, was enhanced and supported by key figures in her life, and this is what helped to lead her to pursue her career as a paralegal. In other words, it truly broadens your horizons and makes you more knowledgeable when compared to those who do not speak that particular language. Meaning, you start having a greater understanding of the world by listening to music, watching movies, approaching the literature and history, and other fascinating kind of things about the new language as well as experiencing a new culture. The overall process my English learning process was easy I believe because I grew up learning it. Learning English was such a fabulous experience in my life. My father and my teachers were the key figures in this learning process. My father used to revise English, Science, and Mathematics with me since I was five, whereas my mother will revise the other subjects that were taught in Arabic with me because she only spoke Arabic and French. In primary school, I was an excellent student according to my English teacher, except for when it came to conversation. For instance, the English grade was at that time split into four categories writing, listening, speaking, and grammar. I will get A’s in all but C’s/D’s in speaking. Gradually, my speaking skills improved in secondary school as I started engaging myself in English activities. As a consequence, English became one my favorite subjects at school. Furthermore, speaking English made me socialize and build friendships with people from different countries both in my country and in the U.S, and earned the opportunity to get an external scholarship.
