The first person in “Hoop Dreams” who’s dreams came true and never gave up was Sheila.In the middle of the story, Sheila was taken off welfare and was determined to become a nurse, She went back to school and finally fulfilled her lifetime dream of becoming a nurse. Sheila scored the highest in her class for nursing.Sheila was head strong and knew what was expected when she joined the nursing class. She knows she needed the money to help with the kids and to put food on the table every night. Just because Sheila lost welfare doesn’t mean she stopped dreaming about being a nurse,she pulled everything together and did what she had to do for her family.
