By forcing students to take an extracurricular activity you would be depriving them of much needed time at home. Time that could be used with the family, at a job, doing homework, and an assortment of very many other important events that would be thrown off by your decision. At home students would now have even less time to complete the copious amounts of homework assigned, and or study for the many tests and quizzes that the average middle schooler takes monthly. No, teachers would also feel many changes, some similar to that of the students. Actually, everything considered, the entire school would see some changes. For example, the school would have to extend teachers hours and pay more on its utility bills. This takes away money that could be used in better areas such as the various elective types and general classroom improvement. This also will more likely than not cause problems with the staff, and you may be at risk of losing valuable people. Any benefits reaped from this decision simply seem short-lived compared to the negative that it will bring. I mean, even teachers and other stuff will suffer from less tie to spend at home and on their own. This means that you would be depriving some children of their parents, and practically throwing a monkey wrench in many teachers home plans. This decision has the great possibility of hurting not only the school finically, but also many people
