Man is a social animal and most people like to have some type of community involvement. It could be in the form of community service or being part of a club or group that share similar interests. Having community involvement is a vital characteristic for someone applying to the honors program. I believe the honors program wants students to go out into the real world and learn about different cultures, which is why it has a mandatory study abroad program. The objective of these trips is to provide students with an array of experiences, so when students start working on their research paper they have had enough experiences to know their interests. Additionally, it shows that they are not afraid to have new experiences and further their knowledge.
