Privileged and entitled students are attracted to the college honors program because of the opportunities that arise when taking such rigorous coursework. College honors program, specifically natural science, offer amazing opportunities for laboratory and field research, which many students will take advantage of fully. Students may simply apply to be able to brag that they are in the honors college as they want to regain some sort of social status in an entirely foreign environment.
