Although I had dreamed about being those careers when growing up, my plan was to be a Psychology major. My true intention was to help others and give them solutions to their problems. I was my first college visit the summer of my senior year to Eastern Illinois University. It was an open house and I walked my way over to the Communications table where I met bubbly, exciting woman who talked to me about Public Relations. She talked about all the exciting opportunities and careers that are possible with a Public Relations degree. From then on, I had always had Public Relations as a backup plan. It was not until I visited Illinois State University on the Columbus Day open house where I decided that Public Relations would be the right career for me. Even though my intended major of psychology became my now minor, Public Relations is another way of helping others, such as companies or celebrities, while doing it in a creative and fun way. This can be through different publicity stunts, managing social media accounts, or giving the public important information that may be concerning them about a scandal or important news for the company or person you are representing. My involvement in the Honors Program would help me build up communication skills, leadership skills, and help me improve on thinking critically in high-stress situations. All of these skills will help me lead and manage a team of PR representatives that collectively working together to get the job done effectively and
