Take another look at your answer to Question 2 and revise if necessary – what is research? In my initial definition of research, I focused on formal research. However, research can be an everyday experience. Research can be as simple as googling a question. Research is the process of asking questions, gathering information, and sharing one’s discoveries with a community. In my first definition, I did not mention the importance of sharing research with a community of people. One’s discoveries could lead to more and more discoveries in the future.
4) Consider section 1.2 in the textbook. Which of the “reasons” most closely matches your reason for doing a research project and why. Writing to understand best matches my desire to conduct research. I enjoy hearing and reading about new topics, but writing about them creates a whole new level of understanding. Writing allows a researcher to organize his or her thoughts and create connections between them. I am excited not only to look into a topic, but also to understand a topic.
