In class, I enjoy listening more than I like speaking out loud. I believe that if I try to immerse myself into the lesson, I will be able to learn a lot more than if I just sit in my chair and try to finish my homework in class so I do not have to do it at home.

On most of my essays, I try to summarize what I read online and do not do a good job on explaining the reasoning. In my “The Debate over Illegal Immigration” essay, I did not transition from one topic to the next very smoothly and I could have written about many other details regarding immigration.
Since I was a freshman in Ms. Hammon’s Honors English Class, I have always used MLA formatting. Looking it up online and copying it down everytime my class wrote an essay did not teach me what the acronym “MLA” really meant; I know now that it means Modern Language Association. I have almost mastered the art of formatting my papers but every now and then I speed up and forget a few important steps like alphabetizing my Works Cited page or putting my last name and page number on the top right corner of my paper.
At the beginning of the school year, I was not prepared for this class because we are actually learning something useful that we will use for the rest of our lives.
