Honors College Admission Essay

I have been an “honors” student since the fifth grade. After graduating high school, I had no intention of purposefully participating in anymore advanced or gifted or honors classes, anything more rigorous than normal was ultimately not on my radar. After all, these are the type of classes I had known my entire school career. Nonetheless, I was slightly disappointed when I found out that students were invited to join the honors college on immediate acceptance to Georgia State and I had not been one of those lucky souls. But I figured it was for the best at the time. Then a couple of weeks ago, I received the email that stated I was being invited to join the Honors College because my gpa for fall semester was high enough. I had said I was done with honors but still I smiled at the thought and ran to tell my parents the news. So what exactly is it about being a part of an honors program that appeals to me? How will it enhance me as a person, and more specifically to the prompt, how will it enhance my experience at Georgia state? …show more content…
Challenges are more work. They require more time and energy, but the ending result is worth it. I know the term overachiever is often used with a negative connotation but I believe it is a good thing. I like pushing myself to become better. Being a part of the Honors College at Georgia State will allow me to continue challenging myself. It will also help me gain a more in-depth look at myself and my studies due to some of the smaller class sizes. Not only this but the Honors College will allow me to make connections with other students who share the same passion and drive for learning.
