My desire to be challenged academically has fueled my interest in taking more difficult courses and my determination to join the Pforzheimer Honors College. As a rising sophomore, I am looking to make a lasting impact at Pace before I graduate and have my honors courses be my foundation for my growth as a student. I have already taken one honors level course, and I was able to display that I am more than capable of handling the work that is expected from me by the professors. The coursework was demanding and my work was held to a higher standard, but I was able to exceed expectations. This demanding coursework that can only be found as a member of the honors college would be the most beneficial way for me to grow into the student I am aiming…
Recently, I have received information in the mail about a new program offered at Jackson College. The information I received informed me that Jackson College is now offering an American Honors program. As we know, college expenses are increasing as the years go by. This program makes a 4-year, bachelor’s degree affordable to those who may not be able to afford it. The American Honors program is a program offered to students at Jackson College.…
The Honors College at Auburn is designed to challenge the students that have showed academic excellence in their high school careers. The college should help students think more openly about the problems in today’s world, and lets face it, they are numerous. With the help of professors, the students in the Honors college should be able to pinpoint the source of a particular problem as well as the solution. I am not saying that the students will change the world with their way of thinking, but the students will be taught perspective. This type of thinking can only be mimicked in a challenging environment with people who are pushing each other to be better.…
I knew before I applied to Liberty University that I wanted to be a part of the Honors Program. After attending a question and answer session regarding the program last year, the Honors Program seemed to be a place where I could challenge myself in my courses and make life-long friends along the way. The environment seemed warm and accepting, yet also competitive and encouraging. After learning about all the Honors Program has to offer, I know it will be a wonderful fit for me during my time at Liberty University. One of the greatest benefits I hope to gain from the Honors Program at Liberty University is an excellent education that aligns with my faith.…
I believe there is a more evident ambiance of respect in the Honors Program because, like the students, the professors are highly motivated. Additionally, the Honors students want to be in a more academically challenging environment and the professors want to teach these students who are hungry for knowledge. Furthermore, the smaller classroom settings are ideal for my learning process. With the smaller settings, there are less distractions and more individual attention which makes a difficult topic easier to comprehend. Also, I plan to take advantage of the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities since I have been accepted to the College of Engineering.…
For me, being apart of the Honors College is a way to challenge myself to new heights. I always like to find a way to challenge myself because it allows me to push past old limits and reach new heights. It is one of the most interesting ways to grow. When you push yourself and really get out of your comfort zone, then you learn so much more about yourself as a person. When I was in my junior year, I decided to try out for drum major.…
I believe that the University of Georgia Honors Program would open up countless doors for me throughout my UGA career, and it would allow me to thrive and contribute to a smaller environment of more dedicated and passionate students. Coming from a small, very academically advanced private school, I am very familiar with and fond of this type of environment. I also believe that my high school experience, in such a unique and diverse school, would allow me to contribute greatly to the honors community. The Honors Program’s access to smaller class sizes would allow me to be in closer contact with my teachers, something that I benefited from greatly in high school.…
I am Hersimranjit Kaur Gill, currently an international student at Richland College. I am applying for honors society because I think I want to make my education more fruitful for me. I don’t just come school for gaining attending lectures. Instead, I come here for gaining knowledge and I don’t want to stop growing as knowledgeable person. I moved all the way from India to the States to get a better education.…
High school are the years of a person’s life where they develop their habits, worth ethic, and outlook on life. During these prime years, a person develops their character. It is vital that efforts are made to ensure that all students have the chance to start life out on the right foot and create a proactive personality. This is the sole purpose of the National Honors Society. For the past ninety three years, the National Honors Society has helped shape the characters of young men and women across the country.…
As a kid I always thought science and math were the best subjects to study. Yet I always wondered why I thought these were of more worth than my other courses. During my high school years I learned that there are programs that focus on these exact subjects and prepare you for a career in these fields of study. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) classes are becoming more and more present in the classrooms of high schools, even traveling as far as middle school. Project Lead the Way (PLTW) and VEX robotics are two programs that help in the administering of these extra classes in the school system.…
Throughout this school year I have shown mastery and improvement on many skills. These skills have ranged from being able to identify, fix, and avoid common grammar errors, to being able to synthesize information into one focused argument. After going through the school year and showing my expertise on these topics through many assignments, I believe that I should receive credit for Sophomores Honors English. The first learning target that I think I have shown a great deal of improvement on was being able to identify, fix and avoid common grammar errors.…
In the first quote, it mainly discusses about how Honors students have trouble discussing and answering questions out loud because we are afraid of saying something wrong or different. I can say that this quote is absolutely true. There are countless times that I feel like I know an answer to a question or I feel like I can contribute something to a discussion, but I am too scared about what other people would think about my answer. I think that Honors students generally are afraid of this because we are worried about saying something wrong. By improving on this fear, I think that in general, people would be less afraid of speaking up in front of the class or contributing to a class discussion because people will be more comfortable about…
The introduction to Theology IV Honors has been quite intriguing already. Even though we have only been in school for about three weeks, this class has challenged me to think of my world and my existence as a bigger pictures instead of narrowing my focus on stuff in my life that might seem important now, but in reality is only trivial. The next sentence that you will read might seem strange but it means more to me than one might think: the placement of Theology, in my schedule, is perfect. As I began the school year, I realized that my schedule had three subjects that, in the past, have been quite difficult to me. Not only is the material covered in these classes difficult for me, but the workload given by my teachers has already caused my…
In order to keep up with this level of academic excellence, a great deal of support is needed and the Honors Program offers it all; everything about the Honors Program encourages academic excellence – the mentorship, small class size, and other perks. In fact, it applies the right kind of pressure. Being in good company is another draw for me in joining the Honors Program. The members are the best of the best. Such people inspire you to attain greater heights.…
One problem that I have found a solution to is growing the amount of students from diverse backgrounds to take Advance Placement courses. Around twenty-six percent of my school consist of minorities; however, only two percent of those minorities participate in AP courses. I talked to some of my peers who I felt we able to handle the rigorous course load and explained to them how taking these classes will be beneficial. Many of those students will be first-generation college students and I knew that colleges would like to classes that will be challenging.…
