Honor Society Reflection

A life lesson that that keeps myself grounded, an individual’s character is created from their personal successes, achievements, experiences, failures and life situations. As for myself, there have been several events that have helped form into who I am today. As I step into my final steps of my journey and reflect upon my time at GTCC, the most significant endeavor thus far, without a doubt has been becoming a member of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society. Meeting the requirements academically to be invited into PTK, created such an intense sense of pride. Not only am I a member of PTK, I was chosen to serve as Vice President of Scholarships for our chapter Alpha Pi Alpha at GTCC. Serving with PTK, has allowed me to be part of an amazing fellowship with my other officers and members, along with learning leadership and soft skills that will be beneficial with my future endeavors. Another endeavor that was unexpected while attending GTCC, I have learned about what I could accomplish if there is pure effort put forth and it has created a new confidence and skills that will be beneficial beyond my time here. When it is all said and done, I will graduate with an associate degree in Human Services Technology with a Substance Abuse Concentration. In conjunction with this degree and passing a State certification test I will become a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. Attaining the certification will allow me to give back to others who are in addiction, what was given to me a few years ago. I am so blessed to have the privilege of being part of the oldest Honor Society, most of all having the honor to serve as an officer is beyond what I could imagine when I enrolled at GTCC. So once again besides taking that first step to enroll, my greatest accomplishment was becoming a PTK member which permitted me to serve my college along with the
