We are in a red Hyundai Sonata 2015 at 7:20 in the morning. My mom is in the driver’s seat, my sister is in the passenger seat, and I am sitting in the backseat behind my sister. We are driving down Meadowbrook road, going to my school. I am staring out of the window just ready to devour doughnuts and bagels. I am also ready to receive my Honor Roll award.
While I was in a daze, my mom broke the silence, “I am so proud of my babies! One made the Honor Roll, and the other one had perfect attendance! I want the both of you to keep up the good work because it will all pay off in the end” she pauses then points out, “especially you Ty because colleges are gonna be looking at you. You need to stay focused and keep these girls out of your head. You can worry about them as soon as you get out of college.”
I shook my head in understanding. I heard her tell me this so many times that I can probably recite every word. What she is saying matters to me because it helps me stay focused on what is important and what is important is me being an honor student in school and doing the same thing in college. It also shows me that my mom truly cares about my education. Her belief is that if you try hard to accomplish something, it will be done.

Then I looked up at the smaller gym’s window above and saw the lights on. My mom found a parking spot right next to Mrs. Krejci, my Spanish teacher. Then we walked to the double doors and saw parents and students heading in the same direction that we were
