Honor Mentorship Program Analysis

Summary Reflective Essay The Honor Mentorship Program is a program one is placed when he or she violates the honor code. The honor code is, “A Cadet Candidate will not lie, cheat, steal or tolerate those who do.” Before violating the honor code and being place in this program I lived a completely different lifestyle. I only did what was right when people were looking and always tried to find the easy way out of things. I inherited this behavior before USMAPS because where I am from people do not take things as serious as they do in the Army. As soon as I arrived to CCBT I realized that I was going to have to change. It was not until I was enrolled in this program before I started to notice any change. I always tried to figure an easy way to do things, which got the best of me at times. On November 12, 2015 I violated the honor code by cheating on a chemistry mid-quarter exam. When approached for clarification by my TAC officer I tried to lie in hope of getting away with it. I was wrong and I knew I messed up as soon as he had called me in his office and I saw the exam on his desk. I ask myself now why did I not tell the truth in the first place? In my opinion, this was the icing on the cake. To be able to talk about your mistake and explain why one should not make it was a big deal for me. I did it in front of my whole company and they were a great audience which helped some of my nerves go away. I spoke about the incident itself how I made the decision to cheat and lie about it. Then, I gave a couple learning points to support the honor program. It was easy for me to explain it because I actually felt the change and got to explain my experience in the honor mentorship program. At first, I was nervous because I felt ashamed of speaking to my company for my wrong
