My school should establish an honor code to ensure that students are getting the best out of their experience. The sources provided explain why an honor code is necessary in student life.
Student input in what the honor code should include is an important part for success. As Source B shows, before a code was put in place, a student council revised it. Since a student revised it, it would be important that an honor code established for out school, incorporates these factors. The two revisions were to “eliminate any formal disciplinary actions actions, although the expectation to take action if one witnessed or knew about any dishonest behavior still existed.” (source B). A pledge of honor was required of at the beginning of each term. For a successful honor code, these two things should be taken into account first hand, since it was the students themselves who created them.

Here, he goes further to say that “the peer culture that develops on honor code campuses - a culture that makes most forms of serious cheating socially unacceptable among the majority of students. Many students would simply be embarrassed to have other students find out they were cheating.” (Source F). An honor code culture would make an overall successful school experience for any student; and not only would it be successful, it would be fair and safe. To develop an honor code status though, my school would need to have an effective honor code. Also contributing to this, would be the students (once again). It’s necessary for them to understand the importance of being an honorable student, and the responsibilities they have to keep up with to become honorable.
