Honolulu, the largest city in the world. Honolulu is the capital of the United States 50th state, Hawaii. Honolulu is a popular place for travelers. Some main things people go to see are Pearl Harbor, USS Arizona Memorial, and the Bishop Museum. More than 8.9 million people visited Hawaii in the year of 2016, making Honolulu one of their main stops. The city remains one of the most popular travel spots.
The first settlers to arrive were from Marquesas, between 500 and 750. In 1000, Tahiti arrived. Tahiti may have enslaved the Marquesas, forcing them to build temples and work in the fields. After becoming a state, the tourism increased and the island was turned into a major travel destination for Americans after the selling of Hawaiian culture (Honolulu).
Honolulu is located in the state of Hawaii which is located on one of the major 8 islands, Oahu. Oahu is located in the northern Pacific Oceans, 2,390 miles from California and 3,390 miles from Japan (“Honolulu” Junior). “Honolulu’s foundation on the island of Oahu rest on the remains of two huge prehistoric volcanoes, Wai'anae and Ko'olau.” Honolulu's altitude ranges from sea level up to 2,013 feet (Pearson, John).
Honolulu is a very warm place, a good place for people to travel if they like warmer temperatures. Honolulu’s “cold” season, where temperatures average around 75 degrees Fahrenheit, is September through May. Temperatures in the summer season are usually 79 degrees Fahrenheit on average. Highs are between 80 and 99 degrees Fahrenheit. During the winter the lows 65 degrees and during the summer the lows 74 degrees. Honolulu averages 3 to 4 inches of rain from November to January.
