Introduction: In our society, there are many types of social deviance which are very typical, such as mental disorder, driving under influence of drugs, gays and other target of stigma, cruelty to animals, fraud against the elderly and suicide. However, those types of social deviance are causes by many different factors and it is necessary to care about and give the victims supports. In this project, we may focus on Hong Kong suicide problem. Actually, “suicide” this word is seems like not important in the Hong Kong society, and it is not very serious problem in Hong Kong, but it is wrong. So, we may talks about the extent of the suicide behavior, possible causes leading to suicide with explanation from theoretical perspectives, treatment, …show more content…
In fact, the extent of the suicide deviant behavior in Hong Kong is not larger. We may see the statistical chart of 1981 – 2015 Hong Kong suicide statistics from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention. (1981 – 2015 HONG KONG SUICIDE STATISTICS, 2016). In this statistical chart, we may find that the rate of Hong Kong suicide is generally continued to fall in the past 12 years. (1981 – 2015 HONG KONG SUICIDE STATISTICS, 2016). The past 12 years is mean 2003 to 2014. The higher rate of Hong Kong suicide is 2003. There are 1,264 of people are death of 2003. (1981 – 2015 HONG KONG SUICIDE STATISTICS, 2016). Until 2014, there are 907 of people are death through suicide in Hong Kong. (1981 – 2015 HONG KONG SUICIDE STATISTICS, 2016). We could look to some news about the student suicide in 2015 - 2017. First one, there are more than six students who are between 11 to 21 year old committed suicide of nine days in 2016 March. (香港該如何防止「學生自殺潮」再現?, 2017). Second one is there are at least five students who took their personal lives in Hong Kong in 2017 February. (Erickson, A, 2017). In this two news, we may know that there are many students in Hong Kong having an idea of suicide and take action of suicide. It is a terrible case in Hong Kong. Why the students in Hong Kong want to end of their lives? It is because the homework or examinations is too heavy to them, and they feel that study is no meaning. According to a letter from a F.3 student, he said that do not see the future with the majority of Hong Kong students. (學童自殺亡 中學生求公開絕望真相, 2017). Every day repeating learning, but do not understand the meaning of learning. (學童自殺亡 中學生求公開絕望真相, 2017). At the same time, he has no hope for the current government. (學童自殺亡 中學生求公開絕望真相, 2017).
