How and why do honeybees die after they sting you? This is a question I've pondered about since I was a child and I was first stung. After examining, I found that if the honeybee stings a human the sting itself may get held up in the skin and part of its abdomen with the barbed stinger can remain stuck in you. As the honeybee endeavors to force itself away, it might tragically tear away its mid-region, abandoning the stinger and held up in the skin.
