From middle school through most of high school I was set on attending the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities and becoming a gopher. This was my plan until my junior year of high school. My first college visit was to the U of M and, while walking through the campus, I thought I didn't want to visit anywhere else. Today, I know that making that decision would have been the biggest mistake of my life. Later on that year, I visited South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. The moment I walked on campus, I felt at home. The campus itself …show more content…
The ability to have one on one time with professors, to work on research projects, to be involved in the community, to be a part of one of the top colleges and programs in the midwest, and several more; not excluding the dairy bar, are why I choose SDSU. There are so many opportunities for me to go beyond the classroom and complete research as an undergraduate as well as an graduate student. SDSU’s research options are extensive; I can get the chance to work in research in my field before I even begin my career or study new and interesting things alongside doctors and professors, such as cancer treatment, unique drug delivery systems, addiction to drugs and alcohol, and vaccine technology. The professors within this program are just another of the many reasons I want to earn my degree here. With an average class size of 80 people in the program, the opportunities to communicate with professors individually will be

Unlike any of the other colleges I have applied to if I go to USD I will already achieve one dream I had since I was a third grader: going to California. It may not sound like such a big dream, but to a girl who never got to travel much this is a huge deal. And not only will I be going to California, but I will be living there! The third-grade version of me is screaming of joy right now to have that chance. Another reason why USD stands out to me is because they go beyond academics and really push students to be a part of the community.…

Choosing the right college was extremely difficult when I was a senior in high school; the only factor I was looking into for my decision-making process was a close kit college. Therefore, I began touring multiple small universities, which brought me to Gwynedd Mercy University. One particular moment really drew me into Gwynedd was when I was with my tour guide. As the tour went on, I watched as she greeted everyone she passed, and the overall friendly and familial nature of the students and the campus became very apparent. By the conclusion of the tour I had already sent in my paperwork to attend the following semester.…

I was slowly starting to fall in love with the atmosphere of the campus. Wayne State has such a unique atmosphere because you have a major city and a major university all in one. Just walking around the campus and see others walk around gave me a very different perspective then I was used to living in the suburb of Novi. In Novi I wasn't exposed to the amazing diversity of Wayne State's campus! My parents assembled around me as I opened the letter, from the University that I have habitually desired to attend, only to observe my smile decline as I informed them that my decision had been deferred. Along with the decision letter there was a “Frequently Asked Questions” article stating how I could insure UNC Wilmington that they are my first choice. The paper states, “If UNCW is your first choice, you may send us a letter, or email expressing your interest. We will add this to your file.”…

I always admire Confucius’ enlightening ideas and his methods of education, especially for “teaching students according to their aptitude.” I think it’s the best way for a teacher to fully inspire his students and fulfill their potential because every one is regarded as an individual with distinct learning style. From the seminar-conference courses to the donning system, I could feel that Sarah Lawrence College indeed respects its students and cares about them since all of them are given equal opportunities to ask questions or express their own thoughts to their faculties personally. For me, I’ve been looking for this kind of academically close attention so that my voice could be heard and echoed. I know only liberal arts colleges may provide me with this mutual education.…

I’ve experienced many hardships when dealing with writing assignments, but the worst would have to be my Senior Portfolio. After starting the assignment, I learned very quickly that the assignment was going to be the easy compared to gathering all the information needed about myself. I was required to create multiple different essays that consisted of my post-high school plan and a reflective essay. It seemed easy to write essays on myself, but until I was required to write it all down, I never realized how many experiences contribute into making me who I am today. Even though I find it as the most challenging writing assignment, I also see it as the best learning experience to show who I am and how I plan my future.…
