“Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.”-Thomas Jefferson. Paul Fisher and his family the Fishers move to Tangerine County, Florida from Houston, Texas. Paul doesn’t believe he has bad vision because of the solar eclipse and is the only one, who knows about Erik’s real characteristics. I can connect with Paul Fisher because I used to get scared of my cousin, but like Paul Fisher, I got the courage to stand up. The character Antoine motivates Paul to make the decision of telling the truth to his parents. The fiction book, Tangerine by Edward Bloor, states truth and lies by using motivations, rising action, and flashback.
First of all, using the rising action, the character Tino has a choice and consequence that show truth and lies. In the book, Tangerine it reveals Tino’s choice, “A funny guy, yeah. I see you on the TV, and I laugh all the time,”(205). For Tino’s consequence, it mentions, “Then Tino, his voice trembling with rage and choked with tears, shouted, That’s for Luis Cruz! I take care of his light work,”(258). Tino had made of fun of Erik causing him to get hit by Erik. Paul feels that he is hopeless and weak for not helping his friend.
