Honduras or officially the República de Honduras is a republic in Central America, its capital is Tegucigalpa Honduras is part of the Caribbean and it is Bordered by Guatemala,El Salvador,and the Gulf of Fonseca. Honduras is roughly forty -four thousand square miles,and its location is 16 degrees North Latitude and 86 Degrees East latitude. Honduras has vastly different land types such as Tropical rain forests and vast mountains. Honduras is the only country in Latin America that does not have a volcano which inhibits the food growth due to the lack of having volcanic soil, since it is rich in nutrients. These protestants attend church on a regular basis such as every saturday or sunday. Their religion has and dramatic impact on the Honduran society, this impact includes holding festivals for religious saints that were once part of the city. But access to fertile land for many farmers is extremely limited due to the mountainous terrain..Honduras cash crops include melon, tobacco,cotton and sugar cane. But their main cash crops are coffee and bananas which are their dominant crops.Coffee alone take for one quarter of Honduras' exports. It is grown mainly by small farmers but production has been negatively affected by dramatically changing international prices. Thier melon export has been on the rise but dropped dramatically due to the salmonella scare, which caused the US which is their main buyer to place a ban stop the import of these mellon or over 6 months. This ban and the rising cost of planting and transportation made many small scale farmers switch to growing sugarcane. Farmers also have to contend with tropical storms. In 1998 Hurricane Mitch destroyed over two-thirds of staple food crops and 80 per cent of export crops. The damage was so great that honduras previous President Carlos Roberto Flores said the storm had set back more than fifty years of progress in the country. Another storm, in October 2008, caused severe flooding, wiping out 44478 acres of food and cash
