How to Make Honduran Tamale

“The word Tamale means wrapped food.” No one knows for sure when the tamale was invented. The tamales come in all shapes and sizes. Tamales can be wrapped in banana leaves, other non-toxic leaves, or even paper or bark. There was quite a variety. Some tamales can be made with beef, chicken or pork; sweet tamales made with raisins and cinnamon. In our family tamales are made for special occasions like Christmas, New Year's or just about any other family or holiday celebration.
The ingredients for the Honduran tamales are:
- Ground corn
- Pork
- Lard
- Chopped onion
- Garlic
- Salt and pepper
- Potatoes cooked in pictures

- Raisins
- Olives
- Cooked rice
