Homosexuality And Family Analysis

I did not completely identify with one certain family in particular, however I feel I most identify myself to have the same beliefs and morals as the Reitan family. The Reitans were a supportive family, just like mine. I do not have any immediate family members that are gay, but I do have a few cousins that are gay. My family never treats them any differently or acts different around them. They support them because they are happy. Same with the Reitans when they found out their son Jake was gay. They were very heartbroken at first but they managed to get over that bump and support him through the adventure. They would read books and learn everything they could about homosexuality because their son means a lot to them. He had a hard time in high-school not being able to come out because no one else at his school had came out. His family was there for him through a very hard time. Even his father, which many fathers do not do, supported his choices. The Reitans are Lutheran, which I am not, but I completely support their morals and beliefs.

The family I most disagree with is the Wallner family. Anna(the daughter)

I have not read the whole Bible, or even half of it. However, strictly from this video, it clearly states the Bible does not support homosexuality. I do not support everything in the Bible, I also do not follow everything in the Bible. Times have changed drastically and many things in the Bible have become an everyday activity in today's society. Whether the Bible says homosexuality is extremely frowned upon and is "the sin above all other sins" it does not show that way in today's society. Homosexuality is an accepted change that many people follow today. There are still strict Bible followers that will tell you they do not support homosexuality, but no two people are exactly the same and there will never be complete agreement between every single person in

I found FUN HOME by Alison Bechdel an interesting read which I believe comprises of a story that revolves around of mainly gender roles, homosexuality, and fatherhood. FUN HOME which I found was a story that's nearly as complicated as the author’s childhood itself. Moreover, the main story was about her father and her struggling with gender roles since they were both struggling in realizing their homosexuality and struggling with understanding their sexual orientation. I find that it’s also due homosexuality that caused her father to act the way he did when she was a child. Throughout the book there were clues of this in her childhood like her refusal to grow her hair long, or reluctance to wear dresses, skirts, or jewelry.…

Heterosexuality is the most orthodox predominant formation of society today. The concept of heterosexuality is socio-culturally constructed and, according to CJ Pascoe, it establishes an irredeemable understanding of masculinity. Pascoe conducts research on socialization revolving around high school students. In this essay, I am going to review how Pascoe’s analysis of the understanding of socialization of masculinity is structured and, more importantly, what she missed.…

In Growing up Gay in the South: Race, Gender, and Journeys of the Spirit, Sears (1991) provides compelling narratives of high school life for lesbian and gay youth in South Carolina, the heart of the Protestant evangelical South, and the difficulties of the lesbian and youth gaining acceptance in the conservative state. The majority of South Carolinians is conservative Christians (Sears, 1991). Thereby, the conservative Christians in SC are “fervent believers in rebirth and redemption, the blood of Jesus Christ, the power of the Holy Ghost, salvation and eternal damnation” (1991, p. 25). Subsequently, their interpretation of the Scriptures is literal and shapes everyday life as well as legislation in SC (1991). Hence, these strong religious views of the South make it difficult for homosexuals to express themselves openly, because homosexuality is an abomination before God (1991).…

This argument is based on an “eros” relationship; it challenges people to apply Biblical passages to their idea of “eros” relationships and to not reject concepts of homosexuality in whole (Smith, 2006). The heterosexual relationship is shown through Genesis 2:23-25 "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed" (KJV).…

Gay marriage takes away one of the essential parental roles from the basic family structure. It is simply impossible for the gays in marriage to incorporate both the father and mother into the parental roles. Sure one can be tough and the other gentle but they are nonetheless both either male or female. According to the statistics earlier regarding a father and mother this is not a good predicament for the child.…

The 1990s were an era of increasing recognition of homosexuality in broadcast media, so much so that scholar Ron Becker referred to the period as “the gay 1990s”, as programs increasingly began to depict gay characters both explicitly and implicitly. Since the emergence of such characters the representation of members of the LGBTQ+ community has increased and broadened, which is especially evident when comparing the “Men on Film” sketch from the pilot of FOX’s In Living Color in 1990, and ABCs How to Get Away with Murder (2014-present). The depictions of LGBTQ+ characters in these programs represent the evolution and synthesis of audience targeting in increasingly competitive industrial environments and in the increasingly tolerant sociopolitical…

He only felt comfortable to come out to his sister sophomore year and the following year he told his parents at the age of 16. The father felt as though all of the dreams he had for his son were shattered but I believe it is the mother who truly understands that this is more than just biblical beliefs and that this is something real for her son as she says “I felt like I had let him down.” At the end of the film Jakes parents talk about how they felt when first when finding out that he is homosexual versus now. They use the example that if they had had a magic wand in the beginning they would wish for Their son not to be homosexual because of their beliefs and practices but now they would not even consider wishing that upon him ever. They now see that this is who Jake is and they have learned to love him more for it.…

The question may be answered depending on when you were born and what the culture of friendship and dating were at the time. There have been many studies linked to friendship, including opposite-sex and same-sex friendship as described in the article, by April L. Bleske and David M. Buss, titled: Can men and women be just friends? This article discusses the methodology of two studies performed to test evolution-based hypotheses and their outcomes. God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. If two people of the same sex were meant to be together god would have made it that way in the beginning. Even for people that don’t believe in god there is no denying that two people of the same sex cannot possibly fit together naturally. The bible specifically talks about homosexuality. It states, “If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination.…

My first question (http://goaskalice.columbia.edu/answered-questions/human-sexuality) I chose from the website goaskalice.com was, “How common is homosexuality in the United States?” I chose this question because as I straight, white, male, I rarely think of my identity and it interests and upsets me that so many have to deal with constantly wondering if they are alone. My brother is gay and I know struggled a lot through his childhood and still has to go through therapy because he for many years didn’t feel comfortable coming out. I was please by the beginning of the answer because “Alice” said “above all it’s important to understand that sexuality is a complicated issue.”…
