Homo Floresiensis
We are the homo species that were found about 95,000 to 12,000 years ago on the island of Flores, Indonesia. We are 3 to 6 inches tall being bipedal, having small brains, shrugged-forward shoulders, no chins, diminished forehead and large feet because of short legs. We are also nicknamed as the “Hobbit” after the tiny creatures in the book Lord of Rings. We have been the most spectacular discovery so far being the most extreme human ever discovered. We don’t look like modern humans but some of our behaviors are surprisingly similar to the humans. The first fossil of us was to be found by an Australian research team. They found a complete female skeleton of a tiny human at Liang Bua cave on the island of Flores, Indonesia.

From Lucretius, Aristotle, Leonardo da Vinci, to Darwin, Smith and Lamarck, many Philosophers, artists, and scientists have produced theories of evolution in attempts to explain the living and non-living creatures around them. ‘Charles Darwin’s grandfather, Erasmus Darwin…”a British physician and poet… proposed that life had changed over time.” “The possibility of common descent based on changes undergone by animals during development…”Evolution is a fact, the theory of evolution explains how evolution works. Only about 25% of the country of Darwin is electrified. For those who are not on the electric grid, lighting is primarily done by kerosene lamps and homemade candles. Kerosene fuel can cost as much as 50 cents a night, a substantial amount of money considering most Haitians only make about 2 dollars a day. Besides cost, kerosene also has many negative health risks, specifically harmful fumes and the risk of broken glass and fire. Due to these factors, many Haitians do not have much if any space lighting in their homes at night.…

Observing nonhuman primates, however, it is easy to see similarities beyond that of facial features. There are similarities in development according to Myers, because of mirror neurons located in the humans as well as the primates as discussed in Exploring Psychology, there are similarities in the physical and cognitive development of humans and nonhuman primates. Not only can nonhuman primates imitate facial expressions, but they can also imitate actions. There are other observable actions such as the use of the hands and feet when handling an object or the ability to observe another performing a task and then repeating it that also show similarities in the basic nature of primates, (Myers, 2010). This allows a social intelligence for primates as a very basic level.…

Homo sapiens, or our modern people, are the only living species in homo genus these days. However, as we all known, before a long time like 100,000 years ago, the primitive society indeed existed some species which belong to our genus Homo. All of them have disappeared and extinct for a long time, those are Hominins that we called. In 2015, Berger et al reported a discovery named the Homo naledi, they found at least 15 individuals and multiple examples to do their research (Berger et al, 2015; Randoiph, 2015). Homo naledi, a previously-unknown species but extinct hominin was found in the Dinaledi Chamber of the Rising Star cave system, Cradle of Humankind, South African.…

Australopithecus sediba existed 1.977 – 1.98 million years ago. The characteristics of this species vary greatly from modern humans, but certain similarities with tooth traits, the pelvis bone, and a broad lower chest resemble those of modern-man. Au. Sediba is a very good candidate for the ancestor to the Homo genus because of many of the similarities found in its skeletal structure. Smaller premolars, molars, as well as facial features were more similar to the Homo genus.…

Not only are there obvious physical differences/similarities among both, but there are also mental. You’d be surprise to see how much our species is so closely alike to an alternate one.…

The Journey to Populating the Earth Hominid began to populate the earth millions of years ago, from Africa and eventually spread out to all of the continents on Earth. The journey took millennium through errors and trials of survival and social organizations. Through Homo sapiens’ excellent adaptation, cognitive revolution and complex social organization, we were able to spread out as much and as fast as we did and dominated the entire planet. The harnessing of fire played an extremely important part in helping with the spread of human population throughout the globe. The evidence that prove this was found in or around Europe from the sapiens. The tools found were pit houses, the first man-made shelters, stitched clothing was worn, and sculpture and paintings in caves was invented. These discoveries lead to proof of why H. sapiens were so closely related to modern humans. As Ember & peregrine stated (2007) “The upper Paleolithic period is also characterized by a variety of new developments: new techniques of toolmaking, the emergence of art, population growth, and new inventions such as bow and arrow, the spear-thrower, and the harpoon” (p.200). The way the species fought for survival was outrageous, sometimes they had to fight their kills Homo sapiens quickly took over the old world soon after Neanderthals suddenly disappeared and or went extinct.…
