The downside was that he came home some nights at six in the afternoon, leaving very little time to himself before bed (Schwartz). Being in an after school program has its downsides. He was successful in school but at what cost. Although he is getting help with his homework, it takes hours out of his personal time. It should neither be fully abolished or given to students in preposterous amounts. Although some say that homework is something that does no good for students, it actually has many benefits to students such as it has students receive better grades, learn what responsibility is, and figuring out how to balance homework with free time. All of these skills are not something that will help them in school, but in the rest of their lives. With that in mind, homework is not something that should be banned or fully embraced. Homework should be something that is balanced and only used as a tool to help students gain proficiency in a subject, not as busy work.…

Homework can’t be gay. If I had a nickel for every time I’ve had to correct a fellow student, I wouldn’t be stressing over student debt. Phrases like: man up, throw like a girl, that’s so ghetto, or other colloquialisms drive me up the wall. No matter how accepting of marginalized groups we may think we are, prejudices ingrained in our society come out of our mouths without a second thought. When confronted about the use of these phrases, people often brush them off as harmless, but I would argue differently.…
