Homework Rhetorical Analysis

Hello all, I am Ruth Abraham and as a representative of Free the Children, I hope you enjoyed my Public Service Announcement about the nationwide nuisance to society: homework. Optimistically, my announcement has provided insight on the extended list of homework's negative effects and has compelled most of you to alert your local educators of the negative effects by your preferred means of communication. I would appreciate any comments or constructive criticism, but prior to any feedback, I would like to elaborate on all significant persuasive techniques-- ethos, logos, pathos, rhetorical questions, parallelism, and repetition-- manipulated to completely engage the audience.
In order to emphasize my perspective, I employed the rhetorical device repetition. First it was the blatant and assertive use of the phrase ‘homework hurts’ throught the announcement; this was to reinforce Free the Children’s argument against the issuance of

I appealed to the viewers’ need of an ethical source by including the medical advice of a certified doctor. The doctor enlightened the audience with side effects of sleep deprivation-- a common consequence of too much homework. The respected opinion of a long time educator, Rick Wormeli, was also included. Educators are the main providers of homework to students and are directly involved with the controversial topic of homework. These reputable sources were incorporated to gain the trust and establish credibility to my PSA. Next, an appeal to the members of the audience’s logical reasoning was encompassed through the use of stand alone facts and statistics obtained from research databases that further validate the argument of removing homework from the educational system. To finish the trio, pathos was involved through the demonstration of a young man being abruptly awaken by his alarm clock-- a common and relatable scene for many teen public school
