Diversity is said to be a state of being different, a variety, and individuals coming together from perspectives of life. Diversity is everywhere, although we may not realize it. In society today, walking into Walmart we see several people from several different races and ethnicities. Some of those people can be our close friends or relatives. In different parts of the world holds a different level of diversity. In this paper we are to research about diversity in our schools and our hometowns and the basic demographics in our everyday lives. As well as learning a little bit more about where we grew up and the history of how our hometowns came to. The hometown I grew up in was Topeka Kansas. Best known for the state capital and the representative's office. The majority race was white with over 100,000 people, following was Hispanics with around 17,000, and Blacks with about 13,000, and Asian, people with two races and Indians with less than 5,000.

A vast majority of the people living there are at a median age of thirty-six. Most of whom have a median income in their household of about 42,250 dollars. With that being said only 19.2 percent of people are living below the poverty line, and only 4.8 percent of those people are unemployed. Averagely, 88.6 percent of the population has graduated high school. In Topeka there is more women who live there with 52.2 percent, and 47.8 percent is men. The ancestry of Topeka is primarily German, with American and Irish falling not to far behind. Crime in Topeka has always been a problem, and last recorded in 2015, crime is at a median rate. It is not the lowest it has ever been, but still at a high risk. These basic demographics and the history gives a more visible insight to my hometown
