Homeschooling for primary grades provides the developmental environment for students to be prepared for adulthood. In venturing into this type of education there has been a great success for students in their education including when entering higher education. Education has became less of an all around growth experience, but more of an environment where students are required to conform to the required environment disciplines . Education is a process of not just academics, but how to mature socially into a well rounded positive person of society. A time where they are looking to who they are, what they want to be, in this change of life it is another passing that one needs to experience to grow to the next level. In theory students are not just students, but their own person growing, experiencing and learning to find their place in their community. Homeschooled students have less of an opportunity to be independent of their parents and the opportunity to handle different viewpoints. Parents are naturally subjective when it comes to their kids, having an open position to their child would impart the constant imbalance between the relationship of the child and their parent. In homeschooling it would take an extreme discipline to stay on a daily schedule and routine. In what I have been exposed to time management is a huge challenge in homeschooling. Arguments that homeschooled kids are not given the same opportunities as kids in traditional school undermines the research of Brian D. Ray, Ph.D. January 1, 2014 "Homeschool students are regularly engaged in social and educational activities outside their homes and with people other than their nuclear-family members. They are commonly involved in activities such as field trips, scouting, 4-H, political drives, church ministry, sports teams, and community volunteer work" The parent with a struggling student is a great opportunity for the student to learn how to handle challenges and work towards overcoming them.
