The definition of socialization is the process by which a human being beginning at infancy acquires the habits, beliefs, and accumulated knowledge of society through education and training for adult status (Webster). The key word is through education—and yes homeschoolers get a fine education, but they do not get the full impact that public or private school children get. Though homeschoolers can join extracurricular activities, there are only twenty-four states that require all public schools to allow homeschoolers to have access to classes and or sports (HSLDA). The states that do not have this law for homeschoolers, the public schools determine whether they will allow it or not—but most do not allow homeschoolers which makes it hard for them to join sports, or different music or art classes. If parents would decide to have them join a class outside of schools, it costs money—especially for music and
