Homeopathy: Article Analysis

This article regarding homeopathy is allotting the readers a description of the theory behind it. By doing this, Bruce Goldfarb is allowing the readers to discover their own opinions involving this medicinal method, while still sharing his own. The debate of whether homeopathy is a valid and legitimate practice has been going on since the 18th century when it was originally founded by Samuel Hahnemann. Hahnemann’s new theory was that “like cures like” and if a small amount of the same disease was fostered, it would alert the body’s instinctive healing powers. Along with that theory, Hahnemann, joined by other homeopaths, believed that the more dilute the prescription was, the stronger the reaction in the body would be. These remedies are created in a traditional method which causes the extreme diluteness and also leaves a memory of the active ingredients in what is left of the medicine according to the homeopaths. …show more content…
Before this new method, many patients were dying because of the harsh ways their illnesses were being treated. Since only minor actions are taken to induce disease, this treatment is already much more attractive to its patients than the previous methods such as bloodletting or blistering mustard plasters. Another reason why homeopathy is supported is because it has scientific proof that is does work. In some experiments this method has worked in humans, animals, and even tissues. Lastly, homeopathy has received so much support in the past hundreds of years because of its natural ways. It is a much cheaper method to the traditional medical care used today.
