Homelessness in Austin is on the rise. In fact, the homeless population in Austin has increased by 20% in the last year. That means more and more people you have to deal with asking you for money. Too often these people suffering from systemic poverty ask us for help and I say, enough. I’m tired of their excuses that they have families, mental health issues, or any other common and understandable reason for being homeless. They need to just stop using drugs, wear nicer clothes, or any of the other things we take for granted because of our money. Since they are too busy trying to afford food instead of nice clothes and a shower, I suggest we just move them out of the city. Yes, let us round up all the homeless people and move them into a warehouse where they cannot pester us for food or money. After all, if you can’t see a problem, then does it really exist? In order for this all to work we have to do a few things. First, we need to raise the funds to construct the warehouse. This won’t be difficult because we will save an average $40,000 per homeless person that would’ve been spent on public services. This is actually a pretty low estimate considering it is really anywhere between $35,000 to $150,000 per person. We would no longer have to spend millions of tax-dollars modifying park benches or sidewalks.
