Bush as well as Obama have taken small steps in stemming the flow of homelessness in particular. George Bush’s funded program “housing first”helped reduce chronic homelessness to about 30% from 2005 to 2007 (Proven Solutions). In addition the National Alliance for Homelessness has put in billions of dollars in funds to create “Rapid Re-Housing Program aiding 700,000 facing homelessness or its counterparts in the first year alone. Based solely on these two examples it is evident there is a plethora of ways in any single person can help change the world and homelessness.
To the very heart of the matter is permanent housing, and is what needs to be solved in order to combat homelessness. The needless money flowing into hospitals or correctional institutes for the homeless or those facing chronic homelessness is not doing anything beneficial.
